LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- UPDATE:
Officials say Tony Kidd, 53, is in stable condition following a string of crimes that led to an officer-involved shooting.
There is no word on the condition of the 69-year-old man he allegedly shot or the officer involved in the shooting.
The Lynchburg Police Department says Tony A. Kidd, 53, is the suspect involved in a shooting that left him in critical condition and an officer with non-life threatening injuries.
On Saturday at 12:31 p.m., the Campbell County Sheriff's Office issued a state-wide police broadcast to be on the lookout for a white Ford Expedition, driven by Tony Kidd.
At 12:56 p.m., officers from the Lynchburg Police Department were dispatched to the 2000 block of Hughes Avenue for a man in a white SUV pointing a gun at a person.
When officers arrived, they confirmed that it was the Expedition Kidd was driving.
When officers tried to pull Kidd over, he refused.
The pursuit continued into Campbell County where Kidd eventually crashed in the area of Candlers Mountain and Sunnymeade Roads.
After the crash, gunfire was exchanged between Kidd and officers.

An LPD canine was injured during the the apprehension process.
Kidd and the officer were taken to Lynchburg General Hospital.
The Lynchburg Police Department has requested Virginia State Police to investigate the officer involved shooting.
This incident follows a series of crimes that began Friday, October 5.
The series of incidents began at 8:59 p.m. Friday when the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call for a domestic assault occurring at 96 Lucinda Drive in Evington. When Deputies arrived at the residence, Kidd was arrested for assault and battery. He was taken before the local magistrate and released on bond.
Police say at 12:33 a.m. Saturday, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about an individual trying to break into a Ford Expedition at 21 Lucinda Drive in Evington. Deputies arrived, spoke with the homeowners, and extensively searched the area but found no suspect.
Later that morning, around 11:40 a.m., deputies received a call to conduct a welfare check at 21 Lucinda Drive in Evington. Deputies arrived at the residence to find the front door ajar.

Chenault, 65, deceased and a 69-year-old male suffering from life-threatening injuries. The man has been transported to Lynchburg General Hospital for treatment. Both subjects had been shot. Kidd is the primary suspect in the shootings, police say.
The Lynchburg Police Department says an officer was shot during an incident Saturday afternoon.
Police say an officer as well as the suspect in the incident were both shot. The suspect is listed in critical condition and the officer is being treated for a non-life threatening injury.
Police did not confirm whether this incident had to do with an earlier road closure in the city.
